Dan Beck
Vocational Middle Leader

I qualified as a PE teacher in 2010 and have worked in Dorset my whole career. I have worked at TQS since September 2017 on the Harbourside campus.

Outside of school I play golf, snooker and football. I also enjoy spending time with my family and exploring new places with them.

Bryony Curtis-Turner
Literacy Lead

I have worked at TQS since 2014 and lead literacy across the schools. I am a bubbly and energetic character, who enjoys teaching, spending time with my family, boxing, cycling, and filming weddings.

Claire Davis-Barnett
Art and Photography Teacher

I have taught Art and Design to young people since 2000 and have had the privilege of working at TQS since 2017, often accompanied by my therapy dog, Claymore.

In addition to painting I enjoy swimming, playing the piano, gardening, walking the dog and mixing drum and bass.

Lisa Andrews
Bespoke Learning Mentor

I have been working with young people in secondary school settings within Bournemouth since 2018. I have been working at The Quay School since February 2020.

In my spare time I enjoy socialising with friends and cooking.

Deputy Head Teacher and SENDCO

I started teaching in London where I worked for 10 years before joining The Quay School in 2012.

In my spare time I like to head to the beach or the New Forest.

Lisa Knight
Teaching Assistant

I relocated from Surrey at the end of 2019, previously working as a TA within a local school. I have a background in the Hair and beauty industry and still hold a passion for it now.
It’s a pleasure to work at The Quay School, with both students and staff.

Nothing beats a beach walk for me, and I love our gorgeous Dorset coastline. I enjoy outdoor exercising and am partial to a dance at festivals and music events.

Lee Wilkins
Assistant Headteacher

I have been working at TQS since 2011, initially as a PE teacher and then as one of the school’s Middle Leaders. I have been in my current role as Assistant Headteacher since 2016 at our Vocational base.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I love any sport and you will find me on a football pitch or golf course most weekends!

I have worked in school administration and management since 1997; joining The Quay School in March 2013.

I am a keen tabletop gamer, and also enjoy spending time with my family and walking the dog.

Helen Cottrell
Assistant Headteacher Hospital Provision and DSL

I have had the privilege of working with young people around Dorset since 1997 as a secondary science teacher and have worked for TQS since 2014 teaching various subjects in the hospital schools.

In my spare time I like to run, cook, bake, swim, read, sing, walk the dog and watch musicals.

Deputy Headteacher

I qualified as a teacher in 2011 and after working in a local secondary school for a year I have spent the rest of my career at The Quay School, I have worked across all TQS provisions and am passionate about inclusion.

I enjoy watching sport, listening to podcasts whilst walking my dog, and I love to cook.

I have been working as a TA in mainstream schools since 1996 and have loved working for The Quay School since 2014 and hope to continue!

When I have spare time I like to spend it with my family. I like to walk, read, watch live music and relax with a good film and a cup of tea!

I’ve taught within mainstream and then moved to The Quay School in 2011 and love every minute.

I enjoy paddle boarding, walking, yoga and reading.

When I first left university I worked for a pharmaceutical company, I started working in schools in 2006 and have experience in all year groups from reception to sixth form across a range of subjects.

I love exercise, travelling and the outdoors but also have a creative, calmer side and enjoy making things and reading.

I have worked with children and teenagers, as a teaching assistant, for over 20 years.

I am ex-military as well as being qualified in Hospitality and Occupational Health and safety with NEBOSH.

I enjoy doing: Woodwork, Airsoft, Designing and Creating using traditional technologies.

I have worked with young people since 2001, in both a local and national capacity, and joined the teaching staff at TQS in 2013.

In my spare time I undertake voluntary work and enjoy reading, spending time with my family and going to the theatre.

Learning Mentor

I have worked at The Quay School since 2019 as a Learning Mentor at our Parkstone Base, before this I was a 1:1 Teaching Assistant working with autistic children.

I love to be in the sea! I sail, windsurf, kayak and paddleboard. When I am not doing these activities I am normally building Lego with my son or watch anything Marvel or DC.

I’ve been lucky enough to teach in primary schools in London, Manchester and here in Dorset since 1997 and have worked in hospital education since 2010, formerly at the hospital school in the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and currently with TQS at Poole General Hospital.

My spare time is usually filled with music, going to gigs and sporting events, being in the great outdoors and getting on my travels as much as possible.

I have been in Education for over 40 years, Within that time I have had roles in teaching, senior leadership, and Quality EQA, within FE and PRU schools.

I enjoy gardening, the theatre and cooking.

I have worked at The Quay School since 2014 initially as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant and I have since become a Learning Mentor and ELSA. Before working in education I worked in a residential children’s home.

I am interested in target shooting and plan to take up clay pigeon shooting soon. I love Zumba and Yoga and love any music I can sing and dance to!

I have taught Primary and Secondary pupils and Adults during my teaching career; now I am teaching KS3 English and Humanities and a BTEC Home Cooking class.

I have a large garden which takes up quite a lot of my time but I do enjoy growing both flowers and vegetables.

I have coached paddle sports since I was 16, before joining an outdoor centre in Leicester for around 7 years where I branched out into new activities. I worked in a mainstream school for three years as well.

During my spare time I enjoy watersports, eating freddos, and spending time with my dog!
