Students and staff at The Quay School Parkstone celebrated World Book Day 2017, with a trip to Waterstones at Castlepoint in Bournemouth. Students and staff, enjoyed taking time out, to slow down and browse through the vast array of books on offer. A truly inspiring place for young and old minds alike.
Students and staff at Parkstone raised £34.95 for Children in Need on the 18th November. We had a ‘bring your teddy to school’ day and baked cakes to sell for the charity. We also named our giant teddy bear and we love his new name, Cornelius!
On Wednesday 16th November, the Harbourside Media group went on a trip to the BBC in Bristol. The tour guides explained the history of BBC Bristol, where they watched a range of different TV broadcasts and then went on a tour through the studios. They saw the pre-production teams in action, visited where the weather is broadcast and went into the radio and TV studios. They were even lucky enough to see the control room, where the tour guide explained the basics of driving a desk.
To finish off the tour, they created their own radio drama and TV broadcast! The students found it amusing that they can disappear on TV with a green piece of cloth, in front of a green background. The overall trip was voted 8/10 by the students.
